lumina jam camp composing teaching performing home

I teach private lessons at my home in Silver Spring, offering instruction in flute, guitar, electric bass, saxophone, and recorder. In addition to an annual MusicFest, I try to provide my students with other performance opportunities during the year. In December, my guitar students lead a holiday singalong at the Takoma Park Library, and my students have performed at Takoma Play Day and at the Folk Festival. I run a Jam Camp every summer for young rockers - learn more!

Lessons are $35/half hour, $60/hour.

About Wendy Lanxner

"The perfect combination of positive energy, humor, expertise, teaching skills, patience, and yet the expectation that [my child] can learn the guitar and love the learning process." - A parent

I am a local music teacher, composer and performer. I've taught privately for over fifteen years in the Washington area, and I work as a music director for Lumina Studio Theatre and other projects. I currently play with the band Wendy & the Lost Boys, in an acoustic duo with Amy Freedman, and with other area musicians. I teach ukulele through Carpe Diem Arts, I have worked as a classroom music teacher, at Friends Community School in College Park, and I have assistant-directed the Jezic Ensemble, a women's choir. I've been a member of groups such as Bottomland, Shosho, and Chopteeth over the years, and my playing can be heard on recordings by local artists. As a high school student, I was a finalist in the Seventeen Magazine & General Motors National Concerto Competition. I received my training at Oberlin Conservatory and the University of Massachusetts.
